What it is

Waseela OS is a set of 24+ custom apps on Frappe and ERPNext that run Waseela's agriculture business: crop credit, procurement, dairy, home delivery, HR, retail and more. Field officers, finance and HR use it every day.

I work across several of these apps. HR and crop credit are the two where I've done the most.

What I did

  • One of two main developers on the HR app, built on ERPNext's HRMS.
  • Geofenced check-in and automatic attendance, with work-from-home rules and check-in APIs for mobile.
  • Goals and performance reviews, including a Vue portal where employees see their own performance.
  • Payroll settlement for leavers, covering notice periods, early exits and same-day terminations.
  • Expense claims booked to each employee's cost centre, so every centre has its own profit and loss.
  • Rebuilt the Rice Credit Case workspace that field officers use on farm visits, and added an offline action queue for the rice programme's field mode.

Hard parts

Paying people who are leaving

An employee can serve a notice period, leave early or be terminated the same day, and each case pays differently. The settlement logic works out notice pay and the final month's salary for each case, and shows payroll what's still missing before the month closes.

Farm visits without signal

Field officers visit farms where the signal drops. For the rice programme I added an offline action queue, on top of the team's offline mode, so officers can fill in visit forms in the field and sync them later.

Internal software, so no screenshots. Offline mode itself is a team project. My part is the rice programme's queue and page caching.
